This completely natural cheese, famous worldwide as the "King of Cheeses" due to its method of production and its organoleptic characteristics. The production is regulated by strict standards registreed by the EU. 

  • AGED: Minimum 16 months or more.
  • COLOR: Straw, to straw yellow
  • FLAVOR: Sweet, fruity, pleasant, buttery, flavorsome
  • AROMA: Typical clean dairy flavor. Free from strong, stale, rancid or foreign odors.
  • INGREDIENTS: Cow’s Milk, Rennet, Salt, Lysozyme (natural protein from eggs).  An anti-caking is added if grated, shredded or shaved.  
  • SHELF LIFE: Grated, Shredded or Shaved: 90 days from product date if sealed. Quarters or Whole Wheels: 180 days from product pack date.
  • ANALYTICAL: 32% Moisture, 32% Fat on a Dry Basis
  • Wheels: 70lb random weight wheel
  • Quarter: 2-10lb 1/8th pieces that equal 1 quarter wheel
  • Grated, Shredded or Shaved: (4)-5lb bags, (2)-5lb bags

History
  • Grana Padano is an Italian cheese with a protected designation of origin.  This means the cheese is guaranteed for its destinctive features and its link with the area of origin, by a system EU rules designed to protect both consumers and producers. 
  • The "Consorzio di tutela del Grana Padano" (Grana Padano Protection Consortium) promotes the discovery of the flavors and aromas of the most widely-sold and widely-consumed PDO cheese in the world. 
  • The term "GRANA" first came into use to indicate a cheese with a grainy structure, produced in teh Po Valley from the eleventh century onwards.  As the repuation grew, several varieties of GRANA were established, all grouped under the term "PADANO".
