  • Parmigiano Reggiano is an Italian cheese with  a protected designation of origin.  This means the cheese is guaranteed for its destinctive features and its link with the area of origin, by a system EU rules designed to protect both consumers and producers.  This cheese is entitled to bear the Parmigiano-Reggiano mark and, therefore, the wheel must display all the marks required for identifying and distinguishing the prouduct.   Parmigiano is the Italian adjective for Parma and Reggiano is the Italian adjective for Reggio Emilia. 
  • The dairy cows making milk for Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese are mainly fed with hay from the area of origin and are not allowed to eat other foodder which is cheaper. 
  • Parmigino-Reggiano is produced in the whole area of the following provinces:  Bologna (on the left bank of the Reno river), Mantova (on the right bank of the Po River), Modena, Parma and Reggio Emilia.   The secret of goodness originates in the place of origin, in the natural feed, and in the high quality milk with no additives.  


  • Cucina Andolina Parmigiano-Reggiano comes from the finest Italian producer.  It's recognized as being of the first category during the grade selection test for the conformity to P.D.O standards.  The wheels having the market characteristics of the first category bear marks of origin and the oval hot iron branded mark.
